Meet the Team – Program Assistant Manu

Manu Warraich joined as a Volunteer Coordinator in 2024 through the AmeriCorps California Foster Youth Initiative. Unfortunately, that AmeriCorps program was eliminated as part of the federal DOGE cuts in April 2025. Rather than leave this great work, Manu began serving as a contractor to remain involved and to assist with overall program operations, including recruiting volunteer mentors and supporting mentors in unique ways so they can be most effective for the youth we serve.

Manu’s prior experience includes supporting HR and Recruitment teams in industries such as 3D printing, biotech, and gaming. Manu enjoys giving back and was also a mentor to a youth through a different organization. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration, Human Resource Management from San Jose State University.

In her role with Aging UP, Manu is especially passionate about recruiting genuine people to be matched with youth who have foster care experience. She lives in Sacramento. When not working, Manu enjoys spending time with her dog, getting brunch, watching movies and trying new things! Manu loves Fall and the festivities of the holiday season. We are thrilled to have her on our team!

Join our Team—Hiring a Volunteer Coordinator AmeriCorps Member

Do you have a passion for empowering others? Join our team as a Volunteer Coordinator AmeriCorps Member! This awesome individual will serve as an AmeriCorps Member but work directly with our mentors and Program Director to support overall program efforts.

If you want experience working with diverse communities and are excited to equip youth from foster care to succeed, this unique opportunity may be the perfect fit for you! During this one-year commitment, the member will serve an average of 18 hours weekly, gaining hands-on experience working with volunteer mentors, teens in foster care, and various professionals in the field.

Responsibilities include assisting with mentor recruitment, screening and training, coordinating events, gathering data, and assisting with overall services that support the mentors and youth in our Program. Comprehensive training is provided and required, ensuring you have the tools and knowledge to excel in this role. Please see the service description for more details.

Meet the Team – Volunteer Andrea

Andrea Saenz Watson is the Financial Business Office Assistant at UC Davis. As our Administrative Volunteer, she assists monthly board meetings, helps with event planning, supports fundraising and marketing efforts, and offers hands-on support during events.

Andrea actually came up with our name: Aging UP. As Co-founder April’s sister, she was often part of conversations during the organizational development phase. One evening, the phrase “we want to help them aging up, not out” was stated and she enthusiastically said, “that’s it. That’s the name!”

Family involvement aside, Andrea has a big heart for opportunity youth and invests in both local and international causes.

Andrea spends her free time enjoying traveling, hosting dinner nights with friends and family, and discovering what new things interest her 8 and 16-year-old sons.
