Monica Baumann is Associate General Counsel for Compliance at Copart, where she focuses her legal practice on automotive compliance laws.
Monica graduated from the University of California, Davis School of Law. She moved to Sacramento from Ohio, where she graduated from The Ohio State University. Since moving to Sacramento, she has been active in the community. She currently sits on the board of the Sacramento Bar Association Foundation, the charitable arm of the county bar association, and previously served on the boards of SacLEGAL, an LGBT bar association, and the United Way Capital Region.
Monica was a mentor to a boy in foster care from 2011 to 2014, through another organization. They are still in touch today yet wanting to get involved with supporting young people in foster care more formally again, Monica became aware of Aging UP through a serendipitous introduction. After serving as a member for one year, Monica was unanimously voted to serve as Vice President, a role she held from July 2019 through June 2022. Since then, Monica has served as President. She brings joyful energy to our mission-focused work and an enthusiasm to connect with community partners.
Monica is a life-long learner. She spends her free time reading and watching lecture series on topics such as American history, archaeology, physics, and linguistics; she is currently working to learn German and improve her Spanish language skills. She and her husband enjoy traveling nationally and internationally, having visited 45 states and over 25 countries. She is also an avid runner.
