Ian Johnson has more than 10 years of career experience focusing on state-level education finance and policy issues. He currently serves as Principal Consultant for the Senate Education Committee. Prior to working in the Senate, Ian served nine years at the California Department of Finance.
An Elk Grove native, Ian graduated from Sacramento State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Ian has an extremely personal interest in Aging UP as he is married to Co-founder April. Yet, in his role as a board member, Ian draws upon former experience of mentoring a boy from foster care. He also serves as the board’s Financial Officer and is not shy to ask tough questions or to drive efficiencies within the organization.
When out of the office, Ian enjoys family time with April and their kindergarten-aged son and baby boy, barbecuing, powerlifting and refining his golf game.
