Meet the Team – Past President Enrique

Board Member Enrique Ruacho, Legislative Advocate

Enrique Ruacho served as Board President from July 2019 – June 2022,  after joining as a member in 2018. He offered a wealth of passion, professionalism and leadership to our team. Enrique also imparted an infectious vision to position Aging UP as a regional leader in services for older youth in foster care. We are excited to continue this ambitious goal!

Enrique relocated from Sacramento for an incredible career opportunity to serve as the Chief of Staff for the San Diego Unified School District. Prior to this position, he had more than ten years of professional experience in positions requiring expertise in legislative and budget processes, state and federal education laws and regulations, and contact with government officials and key government personnel.

Enrique graduated from the University of California, Irvine with degrees in Criminology, Law and Society and Political Science. He earned a Master of Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley, and an Education Doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California.

Enrique’s passion for Aging UP comes from childhood experiences growing up in South Los Angeles. He saw too many of his friends and family enter the child welfare and juvenile justice systems due to insufficient resources and a lack of caring adults. As a board member, Enrique draws from his personal experiences and professional skills to help fill the needs that he saw as a child. He continues to support Aging UP because of his commitment to connecting youth in foster care with caring adults.

Enrique will always be part of our community and we are grateful for his service and leadership.
