Thank You – Salina’s Board Service
We’re honored to have the support and leadership of our passionate volunteer board members. We are grateful to Salina Harrigan, our first member to recently complete her board service.
While we will miss Salina’s frequent interaction, we are grateful for her commitment to continue to be involved as a program consultant and as one of our favorite presenters during Mentor Training.
Salina has been a longtime friend of our founders April and Kecia, but it was her qualifications and advocacy that truly made her a wonderful addition to the team.
Salina has nearly 10 years of experience working with youth in foster care. It was during this time that she earned a Master of Social Work degree and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Aside from her enthusiastic personality and inclusive nature, Salina displayed a unique understanding of how trauma affects young people. She was also tenacious in doing what was best for the children and teens on her caseload.
When Aging UP was in its founding stages, Salina moved to the Bay Area and served as a program development consultant. The board formed in July 2016; Salina joined nearly a year later. Though she was not local, Salina made it a priority to attend all strategic planning meetings and other special events in person, or she faithfully attended meetings by phone.
During her two-year term, Salina contributed to our team and our overall program, through assistance with research, development and training.
Salina recently celebrated her 40th birthday in Kenya. She thoroughly enjoys the Bay Area, where she is a social worker of Veteran Affairs, providing case management to the homeless veteran population, and also works as a college professor at CSU, East Bay, where she educates first-year master of social work students.
Salina spends her free time enjoying family, entertaining friends and traveling. It’s no wonder her dynamic personality and skill set will be greatly missed.
